KIMEP University Holds a Ceremony of Awarding the Faculty and Staff members with Honors from the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan
Almaty, January 23, 2026 – KIMEP University hosted an official ceremony to award its faculty and staff with honors from the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The event was dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the University and served as recognition of the outstanding contributions of faculty and staff to development of science, education, and the university community.
The ceremony was attended by faculty members, administrative staff, and university management. During the event, KIMEP University faculty and staff received award pins and Certificates of Honor for their significant contribution to scientific research, academic programs, and development of infrastructure and institutional processes at the University.
In his congratulatory message, Mr. Sayasat Nurbek, the Minister of Higher Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan (full letter attached below), highlighted KIMEP’s special role in the national higher education system and its leadership in scientific research.
“Today, KIMEP is one of the key pillars of the national higher education system. Over more than three decades, the University has played a transformative role in shaping the modern educational landscape of the country and has become a benchmark of quality in the region,” the Minister noted. Particular emphasis was made to the University’s research achievements and to the recognition of its researchers at the national and international levels. The previous award recipients included Dr. Chan Young Bang – the ministerial medal “For Merits in the Development of Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan”; several KIMEP professors, laureates of the national award “Best Researcher of the Republic of Kazakhstan” and the title of “Distinguished Professor of the Republic of Kazakhstan”; as well as Dr. Nurlan Orazalin, the Professor of Accounting and Finance and a Bolashak program alumnus, included in the World’s Top 2% Scientists ranking, reflecting KIMEP’s international recognition.
During the current ceremony, nine more KIMEP faculty members received the awards “Ғылымды дамытуға сіңірген еңбегі үшін” (“For Merits in the Development of Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan”) and “Ана тілін дамытуға қосқан үлесі үшін” (“For Contribution to the Development of the State Language”).
“Behind these achievements stands a strong institutional culture, developed over decades, as well as the high professionalism and dedication of all university staff. Today, the Ministry honors eighteen staff members for exceptional contribution and diligent service,” the congratulatory message stated.
Eighteen administrative staff members were awarded the commemorative pins and Certificates of Honor for their significant contribution to development of the academic environment, implementation of digital solutions, and support of the educational process.
The ceremony was opened by Dr. Damien Riviez – the VP for Academic Affairs and Dr. Christopher Bridges – the Dean of Student Affairs. They emphasized that the awards from the Ministry Higher Education and Science and of the Republic of Kazakhstan recognize not only individual achievements but also the long-term systemic work of the entire KIMEP University team.
The ceremony concluded with congratulations to all awardees and with expressions of gratitude to the Ministry of Higher Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan for its appreciation of KIMEP University’s contribution to the development of the national higher education system.
