Dr. Nejat Çapar received his Ph.D. in Strategic Management from the Florida State University and MBA from Temple University. He has previously taught at the Florida State University, American University of Sharjah, and Bilkent University among others and has been a guest lecturer at various universities. His work has been published in the Journal of International Business Studies, Academy of Management Proceedings, and Journal of Business Ethics among others. He served as an Editorial Board Member for the Journal of International Management during 2010-2018, and as an ad-hoc reviewer for various other academic journals. He has been active in reviewing and presenting papers at the Academy of Management and Academy of International Business Conferences. His research interests include international diversification and performance relationships, the interrelationships between diversification, firm resources and performance, as well as cross-cultural differences in management.

Dr. Dennis Olson is the Research Chair in Finance and the Associate Dean for Graduate Programs in the Bang School of Business. Prior to coming to KIMEP, Dennis Olson was a visiting scholar at Oregon State University-Cascades in the USA. He holds a PhD in economics from the University of Wyoming (USA) and a Canadian Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation as well as the American professional designations of Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC) and Chartered Life Underwriter CLU). He has taught economics, finance, and accounting classes in the US, Canada, New Zealand, Denmark, Colombia, Oman, Kuwait, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Mira Nurmakhanova, Ph.D.

Dr. Mira Nurmakhanova (Ph.D in Economics, Ph.D in Mathematics, MA in Economics) is a Professor of Finance with more than twenty years of experience in university-level education. She was a post-doctoral researcher in the School of Accounting and Finance, Dublin Institute of Technology and a Fulbright Scholar at Indiana University in Bloomington. She has been a Visiting Professor at a variety of universities around the world, including Universidade do Algarve, EADA Business School, University of Liechtenstein, Uppsala University, and University of Lille. Her area of expertise is Financial Economics and Bayesian Econometrics. Dr. Nurmakhanova has published more than thirty international journal articles. Alimshan Faizulayev, Ph.D.

Dr. Alimshan Faizulayev is the Director of the ESG Center, Research Director, and Associate Professor of Finance at the Bang College of Business, KIMEP University. He holds a Ph.D. in Finance from the Eastern Mediterranean University and has published over 30 research papers in journals indexed in Scopus and Web of Science, ranked by ABDC and ABS. He is also the co-author of the book Fintech Robotics Advancement for Green Finance and Investment (with Muhammed Arslan), indexed in Scopus and Web of Science.
At KIMEP, Dr. Faizulayev received the Teaching Excellence Award (2022–2023) and the Research Excellence Award (2023–2024). His professional background includes roles as Financial Analyst, Investment Advisor, and Project Manager in UK, Cyprus and Turkiye. Since 2021, he has also served as Research Director and Project Manager at the London Center for Development (UK), focusing on investment, research, and fintech innovation.
Internationally, he has taught twice on the Erasmus Exchange Program at the Zagreb School of Economics and Management (Croatia), enriching his global academic perspective.

I sit on the Management Board of the Independent Authority for Public Revenue of the Hellenic Republic since 2022. I am also a member of the boards of directors of academic associations such as the Financial Engineering and Banking Society, where I am Assistant General Secretary; the Hellenic Association for Energy Economics, where i am a founding member, and the leading global francophone association, the French Finance Association (Affi), where I have also served in the past as VP and President. I have served in various positions in the Academia. As an administrator I have had the following key responsibilities: Associate Dean for Research, Director of Research Laboratory; Institute Director; Research Centre Director; Research Axis Head; Masters’ Programmes Director, and Head of Department. In terms of broader service, I have experience as Associate Editor and Editorial Board Member for several Journals and have acted as a rapporteur and reviewer for funding applications, organisations, journals, conferences etc. As an Academic, I have achieved the rank of a full Professor of Finance and I serve as a research chair/ Professor of Finance at KIMEP University, Bang College of Business, prior to that I have served full time at Audencia Business School (2008-2023), and before that at Durham University (2002-2008 full time, and earlier as part time), while I have held several visiting positions. As a researcher, I am Senior Research Fellow at the Financial Engineering Laboratory of the Technical University of Crete (2013-date); and an Economic Researcher at the Hellenic Association for Energy Economics (2023-date). My research is mainly on behavioral issues and efficiency applied to different areas (mainly in investments and markets in finance, banking and energy, but also local governments, the economy, sports, and decision making), as well as on social and green finance issues.

Since then, he has worked at a variety of universities around the world, including KIMEP University (Kazakhstan), American University of Ras Al Khaimah (UAE), Kuwait University (Kuwait), United Arab Emirates University (UAE), Curtin University (Australia), Institute of Public Administration (Saudi), and Barry University (USA). Dr. V. Garkavenko is currently working as Associate Professor of the Department of Marketing at the Bang College of Business (BCB), KIMEP University, Kazakhstan. Dr. Samuel Spector received his PhD in Tourism from the University of Otago in New Zealand. He was then a postdoctoral research fellow at the Centre for Sustainability at the same university before teaching at Queenstown Resort College in New Zealand, the University of Canterbury in New Zealand, and the University of Montana in the United States. He also holds a MA in Sport Management from Brock University in Canada. He has taught a wide variety of marketing and tourism courses. Dr. Spector’s research focuses on issues related to tourism and sustainability. He has more than 20 publications on topics including pro-environmental marketing in the skiing industry, tourism industry resilience to natural hazards, and sustainability issues in the space tourism sector.

Nurlan Orazalin, PhD, DBA, CMA, is an Associate Professor of Accounting. He earned his PhD in Business Studies and Management (Accounting concentration) from the University of Southampton (UK), his DBA from KIMEP University, and his MS in Accounting from Texas A&M University (USA). Dr. Orazalin is a Certified Management Accountant (CMA) and a member of the Institute of Management Accountants (USA). He also holds a Diploma in International Financial Reporting (DipIFR) and has substantial practical and consulting experience in the banking, energy, trading, and telecommunications industries.
His research focuses on climate change accounting, corporate governance, business ethics, sustainability, green financing, financial reporting, and corporate finance. Consistently ranked among the world’s top 2% of scientists by a Stanford University study, Dr. Orazalin has received national and international awards for his outstanding research achievements and has published in leading ABS 4*/3* journals. Dr. Bignoux has two main streams of research, one in teaching and learning and the other in the management of inter-firm relationships. Dr. Alma Alpeissova is an Assistant Professor in Management at the Bang College of Business, KIMEP University. She completed KIMEP University’s Doctor of Business Administration Program with specialization in Management (Innovation Management). Alma has completed the Master of Arts program from the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, Columbia University (NYC, USA) in 2001. She has experience of working as an HR Director in one of the Kazakhstan Holdings and a Research Consultant in one of the UNDP projects. She has served as a Chair of Management and Marketing Department at the Bang College of Business within the period of 2019-2023. Alma has more than 23 years of teaching and research experience. Alma is teaching undergraduate and graduate level courses (BSc, MBA, MMGT, EMBA) as well as professional development courses (mini-MBA, professional certificates seminars). She was in the team to develop curricular and launch the KIMEP University Leadership Development Program (LDP) in Spring 2010 after successfully completing the Emerging Leaders Program at the Darden Business School, Virginia University (USA). Dr. Ali Alipour is an Assistant Professor of International Business at the Bang College of Business, KIMEP University, Almaty, Kazakhstan. He earned his PhD in Management from Sabancı Business School, Sabancı University (Turkey). Before joining KIMEP, he served as an Assistant Professor at Özyeğin University (Turkey).
Dr. Alipour’s research lies at the intersection of international management, strategic management, and corporate finance, with a particular focus on how institutional environments influence firm behaviors and routines. His work integrates the Behavioral Theory of the Firm with corporate finance perspectives, exploring topics such as firms’ cash holdings, performance feedback, and the internationalization of emerging-market multinationals. Dr. Jeremy Brown is an experienced academic, he holds a doctorate in Information Systems, (Faculty of Applied Technology) an MSc in Computer-Based Information Systems (Faculty of Computing), and a BEd in Business Studies (Faculty of Education), all from the University of Sunderland (UK).
He has over 30 years of international experience teaching and researching in Information Systems, eLearning, IT Governance and Community Informatics. He has published articles in Scopus ranked journals including “Information Technology for Development” and “Information Research”. Recent projects include investigating the digital skills gap in female microentrepreneurs in Oman.
A specialist in MIS, his global academic footprint includes teaching engagements in numerous countries, including the UK, Japan, New Zealand, Singapore, Ireland, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Brunei Darussalam, and now Kazakhstan. With over 30 years of international academic experience across Egypt, Estonia, Finland, and Kazakhstan, her research focuses on responsible leadership, organizational behavior, sustainability, and international business. She holds a PhD in Management from Estonian Business School and has authored over 20 peer-reviewed publications in high-ranking journals, including International Migration (ABDC-A), Tourism and Hospitality Research (ABDC-A, ABS***), and Journal of Management Development (ABDC-B, ABS*). Uzhegova Olga, DBA

Dr. Olga Uzhegova is an Assistant Professor of Finance at KIMEP University. She first began teaching in 2002 in the Evening MBA program and, after years of combining academic work with senior administrative responsibilities, has served as a full-time faculty member since 2014. She holds a Doctorate in Business Administration (Finance) and an MBA in Finance and Accounting from KIMEP University, a degree in Jurisprudence from Moscow Finance and Law University, and a degree in Processing Engineering from Almaty Technological Institute. She is also a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and a Professional Risk Manager (PRM).
At KIMEP, Dr. Uzhegova has developed and taught a wide range of finance courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels including. She also supervises student theses, guiding them in applying academic theory to practical finance problems. Her research focuses on risk management and corporate governance in both emerging and developed economies. She has published in international and regional journals such as the Review of European Studies, the Mediterranean Journal of Social Sciences, and the Central Asian Economic Review.
Beyond her teaching and research, Dr. Uzhegova has made significant contributions to KIMEP University’s institutional development. Over more than a decade, she held leadership roles as Associate Vice President for Administration and Planning, Deputy to the President for Government Relations and Development, and Corporate Secretary. In these roles, she coordinated relations with the Parliament, Presidential Administration, and ministries of Kazakhstan; provided legal and regulatory support; represented the University in litigation up to the Supreme Court; and led major projects such as privatization, state attestation, and national institutional accreditation. Her work has been recognized with several awards, including “Professor of the Year 2016” from the PIE Student Association. Fluent in English and Russian, Dr. Uzhegova combines academic rigor, professional expertise, and practical insights to prepare students for successful careers in finance and business.

Zhanat Syzdykov, MPA

Assistant professor Zhanat Syzdykov has been with KIMEP University for more than 18 years (1996-2000, and sine 2010 – present). His primary research areas of interest include financial accounting, financial statement analysis; corporate governance, earnings management, intangible assets/intellectual capital; capital markets. Zhanat’s creative approach to teaching introducing experiential learning aspects and actions learning techniques made him a valuable member of the Accounting and Finance department of the Bang College of Business. Zhanat is trilingual in English, Russian and native Kazakh, which helps him connect with diverse student body and sometimes their families in the community. Zhanat was more than 3 years the member of the National Team of the Higher Education Reform Specialists under the Erasmus+ Kazakhstan, for two years served as a member of the European Advisory Board for the Institute of Management Accountants (Europe).

Akhliddin Ismailov graduated from the Faculty of Economics at Khoja Akhmet Yassawi International Kazakh-Turkish University (AYKTU) in 1998, specializing in International Economic Relations. In 2002, I completed my Master's degree in Business Administration at Ankara University, Turkey. During the same year, I began my academic career as a lecturer at AYKTU, before joining KIMEP University in 2004, where I have been serving ever since.
His specialization focuses on business finance, combining theoretical knowledge with practical applications. I have enhanced my expertise through international academic experiences, including serving as a JFDP Visiting Scholar at Iowa State University, USA, from January to May 2007, under the auspices of the U.S. Department of State.

Oleg Vlasov is a Senior Lecturer of Information Systems and Accounting courses at the Bang College of Business, KIMEP University. Oleg joined the University faculty after receiving MBA degree. He has working experience as Financial Manager and Accountant. Currently, he teaches courses in Information Technology, Accounting and Management. Oleg has been actively involved in activities and development of the college – participated in creation of the first issue of KIMEP Yearbook, developed and has supported the department’s website, as well as developed online content for information systems courses. Yevgeniya Kim, MBA

Yevgeniya D. Kim is a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Operations Management and Information Systems, Bang College of Business, KIMEP University, Kazakhstan. She has been teaching at KIMEP since 2003 and served as Director of the Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation from 2018 to 2019. Kim also gained international research experience as a guest researcher at the Technical University of Eindhoven (2009–2011) and as an International Researcher at Chonbuk National University in South Korea (2000–2001).Her academic background combines Economics, Operations Management, MIS, and Pedagogy, including MBA from KIMEP University and studies at Chonbuk National University. She has authored and co-authored numerous publications on logistics, supply chain management, quality management, and generative AI in education, with recent works published in Education and Information Technologies Journal and IGI Global. She is also a co-author of book chapters on chatbot typologies.
Alongside her academic career, Yevgeniya Kim has been active in consulting projects in Kazakhstan and internationally, and recently launched a figure skating school project.
