The Most Student-Centered Scholarship in the World
KIMEP University is proud to announce the establishment of the Kang Scholarship, generously founded by Dr. Sungju Park-Kang, faculty member and dedicated supporter of higher education. This scholarship honors his mother’s enduring love and reflects his lifelong commitment to student-centered academic excellence.
Purpose and Vision
The Kang Scholarship aims to support KIMEP students in their academic and professional development, while promoting the university’s core values to the international community. It offers a unique model where students play an active role in the selection process, making it one of the most student-centered scholarships in the world.
Fund
– 12,000,000 tenge = 8,000,000 per year (to be gradually increased) + 4,000,000 (2025-2026)

Program
– Applicants should choose one program only
1) Kang Scholarship DPRK (the DPRK Strategic Research Center)
2) Kang Scholarship AIR (exclusively for students with financial difficulties)
3) Kang Scholarship PSIR (the Department of Political Science and International Relations)
4) Kang Scholarship KOREA (exchange students going to and coming from Korea)
Application
– Deadline: 13 August 2025 → First working day: 4 September (subject to change)

Selection process
– Stage 1: Document (motivation letter of about 500 words + CV) → result: 19 August
– Stage 2: Interview (in person) (21 – 25 August) → result: 29 August

Dr. Sungju Park-Kang is a founder and moderator of Kang Scholarship. Dr. Kang is a fellow at the DPRK Strategic Research Center and a faculty of International Relations at KIMEP University, where he is also acting as President Dr. Bang’s discussion partner.
Ms. Galiya Sautova is a Psychology student at KIMEP University with a GPA of 4.18. She truly cares about people’s emotional well-being and believe in the power of kindness, honesty, and human connection.
Mr. Maratuly Amangeldy-Azat is a second-year Bachelor of Law (BLLB) student at KIMEP School of Law. As part of the ITeachMe Foundation, he helped organize inclusive events and projects for people with disabilities.
