Television News Package (TV News PKG) Video Competition
Topic of the PKG: Success Stories of Alumni of KIMEP University
The Department of Media and Communications announces a TV News Package Video Competition this winter. We invite you to explore and investigate the success stories of KIMEP University alumni.
The alumni of KIMEP University are building their careers in diverse spheres including business, politics, legal, economic and financial realms, public administration, education and academic fields, international relations, IT, marketing, PR, news media, film industry, social media content creation, entertainment, entrepreneurship, etc. Your task is to find and cover a unique and provocative story of success of KIMEP University alumni in an enterprise TV PKG following journalistic standards of news reporting.
The works will be collected via Moodle Platform in January 2022 and evaluated in February 2022. The winners will be announced in March 2022 during the DMC Nauryz Media Festival where we plan to screen the submitted TV News PKGs. The three final winners will receive cash prizes in the following way:
One Platinum Award: KZT 200,000 – 1st place
One Gold Award: KZT 100,000 – 2nd place
One Silver Award: KZT 50,000 – 3d place
WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO PARTICIPATE: ALL KIMEP University students are welcome to participate.
Selected Key details of TV News PKG prepared for the competition:
LENGTH of TV PKG: minimum 01:30 (1 min 30 sec), maximum is 02:30 (2 min 30 sec)
LANGUAGE: English
TV PKG must have: original footage, original video interviews, at least 2 soundbites included as SOTs and a reporter’s bridge or stand-up. (Please attend the 2 workshops designed to help you learn the broadcast news terminology).
THE FINAL SENTENCE IN THE PKG must be:
“NAME OF THE PARTICIPANT…KIMEP UNIVERSITY NEWS…ALMATY.”

1st workshop: Dec. 27, 2021 on Monday at 14.00-15.00 — Introduction and Q&A about the competition
2nd workshop: Jan.10, 2022 on Monday at 14.00-15.30 – Discussion of the TV PKG requirements and submission details
DEADLINE TO SUBMIT a TV PKG, a script, a YouTube link and supporting video files:
by 23: 59 on Monday, Jan.31, 2022 via KIMEP University’s Moodle Platform.
