Scholarship Stipend Named In Honor of Dr. Zhenis Kembayev

Stipend: amount in tenge equivalent to $500 (USD) for one scholarship holder
Duration: 2021-2022 AY
Deadline: April 2, 2021
The scholarship will cover the amount in tenge equivalent to $500 (USD) per stipend recipient, up to two recipients per year (for a total of the amount in tenge equivalent to $1,000 (USD)).
This scholarship will be distributed and monitored by the Scholarship Committee which will consist of two faculty members of the School of Law and one FAO representative.
Selection process:
Stage I (main criteria):
– Law School undergraduate students of 3rd years of study upon Fall-2020 semester;
– Minimum overall GPA 4.0 (after Fall of 2020-21 AY);
– Non-holders of 100% scholarship;
– Active participation in public, sport, culture, research and university life (if applicable). Provide the certificates for the last three years of study at KIMEP (if any);
– Submit a short essay on the topic of developments in constitutional law as the result of recent events, e.g., the COVID-19 pandemic. The essay should be at least 800 but no more than 1,200 words in length. The evaluation criteria will be a simple 70/30 formula, i.e., 70% for substance (quality and depth of research, analysis, and discussion) and 30% for form (spelling, grammar, punctuation).
The Scholarship Committee will evaluate all submitted documents and certificates and provide Partner with the list of scores.
The Scholarship Committee will select 2-3 candidates per stipend with the highest scores for the essay and invite them to the next stage.
Stage II:
Interview with representatives of the Partner and/or Scholarship Committee (15-20 min per each candidate)

Final step:
– Based on the interview and the results of the first stage, the Scholarship Committee will identify the winner(s).
– In order to receive a stipend, Stipend Holder should be a full-time registered student at KIMEP at the time of the application.
Timeline:
– Identify the candidates based on the above-mentioned criteria, contact them and announce the rules of the first stage by March 26, 2021
– Collect the essays from students by April 2, 2021
– Review and assess the essays by April 9, 2021
– Invite the students with the highest scores for the essay to the second stage by April 13, 2021
– Officially announce the winner by April 15, 2021

PRESIDENTIAL STIPEND FOR 3 AND 4 YEAR STUDENTS
Scholarships are a traditional form of financial aid. Companies, corporations, foundations, individual donors, and other sponsors give money to KIMEP that is specifically designated for graduate or undergraduate students in the form of tuition fee subsidies. The Corporate Development Department solicits financial sponsorship and support from national and international donor organizations and companies that may vary from year to year. Scholarships are awarded based on the academic standing, leadership skills, research activities, student active life. The Criteria are established by the sponsor. Selection process for the grant is executed by sponsor or together with Corporate development department.

Each year Corporate Development Department organizes the Awarding ceremony to acknowledge scholars and fellows. We invite sponsors, representatives of companies, foundations and other guests to join together to celebrate the bet achievements of our students.
