SEJONG INSTITUTE IN SOUTH KOREA – CLOSED DOOR MEETING

JULY-10-2025

Dr. Chan Young Bang and Dr. Sungju Park-Kang conducted their first official engagement in South Korea with a closed-door meeting at the Sejong Institute, one of the country’s most influential and well-established think tanks.

Originally scheduled as a 90-minute session with five participants, the meeting extended to 120 minutes and included eight senior representatives from the Sejong Institute. The discussion opened with remarks from the Deputy Director, followed by a presentation by Dr. Chan Young Bang and an in-depth exchange with Sejong experts. Dr. Sungju Park-Kang later presented his remarks, prompting further discussion on key regional issues. The session concluded with a group photo and expressions of mutual interest in continued dialogue.

On July 11, Dr. Bang and Dr. Park-Kang held a lunch discussion with Dr. Nicolas Levi, a specialist in the religious and cultural heritage of the Korean Peninsula and the history of North Korea.

The visit marked a productive and promising step toward enhanced academic exchange and cooperation on Korean Peninsula affairs.
