DR. BANG WELCOMED REPRESENTATIVES OF TWO SOUTH KOREAN UNIVERSITIES

On August 19, Dr. Bang met with Dr. Jinho Jung from Pohang University of Science and Technology (POSTECH) who previously served as the Founding Vice President and Dean of the Graduate School at Pyongyang University of Science and Technology, along with representatives of Handong Global University. Dr. Bang was accompanied by the members of the DPRK Strategic Research Center at KIMEP University, and by Dr. Su Jin Lee from the College of Human Sciences and Education.

POSTECH was founded in 1986 by POSCO in Pohang, South Korea. It is a leading private research university in science and engineering. With about 3,200 students, it is globally recognized for cutting-edge facilities like the Pohang Accelerator Laboratory, and ranks among the world’s top universities, especially strong in materials science, physics, and engineering.

During the meeting, Dr. Bang presented the unique features of KIMEP University, and informed of the recent opening of a new School of Computer Science and Mathematics. He also explained his role as a former adviser to First President Nursultan Nazarbayev. He then entertained questions from South Korean students expressing their willingness to potentially come and study at KIMEP University.
