Speakers’ bios:
Gulnara Dadabayeva is an Associate Professor of the Department of International Relations at KIMEP University. She got her Doctor of Historical Sciences degree at Kazakh National University named after al-Farabi. Her main research interests are focusing on problems of the new independent republics of Central Asia in post-Soviet time. She realized some projects on «Cultural Heritage» program under auspices of the state agencies such as research work and searching new documents on Kazakhstan history in archives of Great Britain and Hungary. Dr. Dadabayeva was awarded by the Ministry of Education and Science of Kazakhstan Republic as the “Best teacher” in 2011; she was also a Fulbright grantee (USA, 2008) along with other different international projects where she participates.
Dina Sharipova is an Assistant Professor of Political Science at the Department of International Relations and Regional Studies at KIMEP University. She received her PhD from Indiana University, Bloomington in 2013. Dr. Sharipova’s research interests include state-building, formal and informal institutions, identity politics, and parties and party systems in Central Asia. She published articles on nation-construction, informal institutions and political parties in Central Asia.
Didar Kassymova is an Assistant Professor of the Department of International Relations at KIMEP University. She got her Candidate of Historical Sciences degree at Kazakh National University named after al-Farabi. Her research interests include such problems as ethnic repatriation, ethnic studies of the post-soviet Kazakhstan. Dr. Kasymova heads numerous state-sponsored research projects. She presented results of her research activities at different international conferences in USA, Great Britain, Germany, Turkey and other countries.
Scott Lawrence Spehr, is an Associate Professor and Chair of the department of International Relations and Regional Studies at Kimep University. His research agenda focuses on the relationship between culture\identity and behavior. Dr. Spehr holds a Ph.D. in Political Science (comparative and international relations) from the University of Arizona.
