Master of Arts in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL)

KIMEP’s MA in TESOL program prepares its students to become well-qualified, professional educators of foreign language learners across Kazakhstan, Central Asia, and beyond. The MA in TESOL is a Masters in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages. Established in 2007 and offered through KIMEP’s Language Center, this graduate degree program is based upon ideas from Applied or Educational Linguistics. Students in the program are not by any means limited to the teaching of English. The theoretical grounding and practical training applies to all languages.

This program provides a unique opportunity for students due to its international faculty, its course offerings and research/practicum experiences, and its setting in Almaty, Kazakhstan—a cultural and economic crossroads of Central Asia.

Graduates of the MA in TESOL program will be prepared to pursue teaching and language research opportunities in:

• International schools
• University departments and centers
• The Diplomatic Service
• Government programs and agencies
• International education programs

Program Description
Established in 2007 and offered through KIMEP University’s Language Center, this graduate degree program is based upon ideas from applied and educational linguistics. Courses provide theory and practice in the latest methods in language teaching in general with a program emphasis on teaching English.

Students in the program are not by any means limited to the teaching of English. The theoretical grounding and practical training applies to all languages.
