On February 5, 2020 the College of Social Sciences held an Internship Workshop for those students, who in the nearest future will face taking the first steps of professional activity in our partner organizations and companies.
Students were explained the main rules and procedures of taking the academic and professional credit internship within the scope of their studies at KIMEP University.
More experienced students shared their insights on taking the credit internship course. The first three presentations were made by the students of Economics major.
Malika Imantayeva told about her internship in the National Bank of the RK in April and May of 2019, about the specifics of working in state financial structures, and, accordingly, about strict discipline, dress code and at the same time interesting nature of working as a young professional.
Zhibek Daulenova – the recent graduate of Economics program at KIMEP told about her experience of taking an internship in the Commercial Service of the Consulate General of the USA in Almaty in the Fall of 2019, about challenges that inexperienced staff members may face in international environment and about how to cope with them.
Kamilla Akhmetova shared her experience of taking an internship in the Trade Office of the Embassy of Kingdom of Belgium in Kazakhstan, emphasizing the volume of work she had to perform and the specifics of working in a European diplomatic mission.
Albina Mukasheva, – a graduate student of Public and Municipal Administration program at KIMEP described taking an apprenticeship in “Bilim – Central Asia” educational center in the Fall 2019 semester. The most interesting part of her internship was working in the project of selecting Central Asian students for graduate programs abroad and the advantages of possessing so called “soft skills” for successful integration into the professional environment.
Zhania Adil, an International Relations program student, shared her experience of taking an internship in a UNO structure – the UNICERF Children Foundation. Zhania underwent a thorough selection, her achievements in social life, volunteering and taking a semester of academic mobility in Glasgo University, UK via Erasmus+ scholarship helped her to become an intern of the program.
By the feedback of attendees this format of transferring information and experience was very useful for them, and now many students will plan their credit internships based on recommendations of their more experienced predecessors with the help of administration of the College of Social Sciences.
