Life During ISS

The KIMEP International Summer School offers an opportunity to interact with students and professors from all over the world, learn and share new ideas, and experience Kazakhstan in a stimulating and fun environment. The program will be taught in English by a diverse and international body of professors, and will feature a wide variety of courses.

Hye Joo Lee, Yonsei University (Seoul, South Korea): “As an aspiring diplomat, the course ‘Model UN Conference’ gave me a great opportunity to prepare for my career. I became familiar with the role that Central Asian countries play in world politics, and got to represent Afghanistan as a delegate at the model UNESCO conference, which was a fascinating experience for me. This also could help a student when applying for a scholarship. KIMEP encouraged me to realize my potential”.
Edi Studer, University of Bern (Bern, Switzerland): “Completing the International Summer School at KIMEP was an incredible experience. Besides learning Russian, the program helped me to gain a better understanding Kazakhstan, including its unique culture, fascinating history, and bright future. Situated in the heart of Almaty, a hidden gem by the Tian Shan Mountains, KIMEP was a place where I could meet influential professors from around the world and make lots of new friends”.
Gulmira Bissenova, Kazakh University of Humanities and Law (Astana, Kazakhstan): “Participating in KIMEP ISS provided me with opportunity to enrich my knowledge and experience and visit a bustling megapolis. Almaty is a city of entertainment, but KIMEP campus is an “island” of knowledge”.
Yoonjin Park, Kyung Hee University (Seoul, South Korea): “I applied for the International Summer School because KIMEP provides a unique experience to find diverse points of view about the world, as well as an opportunity to discover Kazakhstan. Though it was only for a short period, I was more than satisfied with the entire program. I particularly enjoyed the course ‘The World Economy’, and my professor was fantastic”.
Diane Cagni, University of Bath (Bath, UK): “KIMEP is a partner of University of Bath, where I study. I decided to study at KIMEP as I wanted to discover unexplored cultures. I took a course on Business Start-up, and have now awareness about fundamentals of business in Central Asia. During weekends I traveled a lot and logged thousands of kilometers around Kazakhstan.  I got to see the local culture and the Kazakh way of travelling, which were new to me! And one of the most important things were the many Kazakh and International friends that I made”.
