Why KIMEP
KIMEP offers an exceptional education in a unique region of the world. Located in Almaty, the financial capital of Central Asia, students have the opportunity to experience Central Asian culture in a dynamic and modern environment.
KIMEP is proud of its ties with international academic community worldwide. It has established relations with more than 60 leading institutions in different countries which entail cooperation in such fields as:

The campus is secure and is located in the center of Almaty. Students are within walking distance to cafes, restaurants, concert halls and other fun entertainment venues. Close by, also, are the beautiful Tien Shan Mountains which provide skiing and snowboarding during the winter, scenic hiking trails, and a chance to breathe in fresh mountain air.
KIMEP offers one semester and one year exchanges, and the freedom to take courses from across our undergraduate and master programmes. Experienced and caring faculty members provide expert and individual tuition. Our campus facilities, located in the heart of the vibrant city, offer world-class library and research resources. Student life is dynamic and varied. Exchange students come to KIMEP from more than 30 world-wide partner institutions.

Application Procedure
To come to KIMEP for a semester or two as an exchange student you should find out if your institution is a KIMEP partner. The International Office at your institution will guide you on how to apply and become an exchange student to KIMEP. You may also look at the list of KIMEP Partner Universities to see if your university is among them.
Being nominated for exchange program to KIMEP you will need to fill in ONLINE application form:
Please attach the following documents:
- Copy of the transcript
- Copy of the passport
- KIMEP visa form
Students from non-partner institutions overseas are also welcome to study at KIMEP as fee-paying visiting students. If you are not a student from one of our partner institutions, please e-mail to us at albina_k@kimep.kz for details.

The minimum study load for a full-time student at KIMEP is 18 credits (or 6 courses) per semester. Though to get a real feel of the exchange and to be able to integrate into social and student life, we encourage students to enroll for 5 courses. Please consult with your academic advisor at your home institution.
KIMEP has adopted the American Grade and Credit System ( page #22 ). As all courses at KIMEP are conducted in English there is no problem to choose appropriate courses for your study program. You must have good command of English language though you do not need to provide us with the results of TOEFL or IELTS. Please visit our web site - Office of the Registrar to find the appropriate courses you would like to take at KIMEP and discuss them with your advisor. If you need syllabus of a course please ask for it Ms. Yuliya Rogozhina and she would be happy to assist you.
