How to Apply

Applicants for exchange programs should meet the following general criteria:

  • Be a student at KIMEP
  • Have GPA of 3.0 and above
  • Have a solid command of English (knowledge of other languages is also helpful)
  • Have successfully earned from 30 to 100 credits of an undergraduate program and 12 credits of a graduate program at KIMEP prior to the start of the exchange program. Fast track Master Degree students may participate from the first semester
  • Have all prerequisite courses for the courses being applied for at the host institution (consult the partner university’s website for a list of the courses offered and prerequisites)
  • A student may participate in a maximum of two exchange programs during their time at KIMEP.

Application process

A) Applicants should submit the following documents to the International Relations Office (IRO, office 409 / Dostyk building):

1. KIMEP’s Application Form for an Exchange Program

2. A copy of your transcript (this can be printed out from KIMEP’s website)

3. A recommendation letter from a faculty member.

B) After being nominated for participation in an exchange program the Finalist must send documents ( a host university’s application, all required documents to be enrolled and to get a visa) to the host university as described in “Program Description” or consult the IRO.

C) The Finalist must have the courses he/she intends to take approved by the Departmental Committee. Please fill in the form and bring it to the International Relations Office together with the course syllabus. The International Relations Office will submit it to the Department and will keep the approved forms. Please read “Course Transfer Procedure”.

D) Students who have a confirmed place to study abroad must pay tuition fee minimum for 3 courses ( 3 courses for graduate students) at KIMEP and submit the “Leave of Absence Form”.

Returning exchange students should fill in the Follow up Survey Form and return it to the International Relations Office.
