KIMEP University’s Master of Arts in International Journalism is now celebrating its 10th year as the only Western-style journalism graduate program in Central Asia. It bridges professional and academic education, as well as international and Kazakhstani realities. Students are treated as valued individuals, each with goals and ideas of their own. Most classes are taught as seminars, and include lively discussions. The MAIJ program is directly patterned on the best and latest principles of American and European university education. This means that students can go directly into the future they desire. Many graduates immediately find work in international offices based in Kazakhstan, or go on to embrace the challenges of a Doctoral program. For example, two recent MAIJ graduates received full scholarships to the Ph.D. program in Britain’s famed Cambridge University.

  • Students learn from respected Western professionals and academics, who teach using the flexible, problem-solving thinking that employers value most. MAIJ graduates are also proficient in high-level English, which leads to employment and advanced education around the world.
  • Faculty also include Kazakhstani professionals who have invaluable local experience and industry connections. They support internships, a key aspect of success and networking. This experience completes a quality education with practical skills.
