International Collaboration
The College very committed to collaborating with partner universities on research and the development of dual and joint graduate degrees. This gives College an opportunity to working with partner institutions:
- to build institutional networks that facilitate the linking of specialist scholars and faculty in Central Asia with scholars of international repute in their fields. In 2010 the following academic visitors were hosted:
- to develop a joint Masters degree with the University of Glasgow, and its other IMCRESS partners – Corvinus University, Budapest, Hungary-Institute of Political Science; Jagiellonian University, Kraków, Poland -Centre for European Studies; University of Tartu, Estonia -Centre for Baltic Studies, and University of Turku, Finland -Baltic Sea Region Studies
- to conduct joint research projects (an example being Emerging Markets in Central Asia: The Role of Institutional Complimentarities in Reform Processes, by Professor Joachim Ahrens, Private University of Applied Sciences Gottingen;
- to arrange international seminars and conferences;
- to facilitate faculty exchanges (three College faculty received Erasmus Mundas Faculty Mobility grants in 2010-12);
- to support partner institution’s graduate, post-doctoral and advanced research on, or relevant to, Central Asia (in 2010-11 the College supported the following:
- to deliver:
- dual (double) degrees In 2011-12 with the University of Glasgow (language-based area studies) and Humboldt University (Economics and Management) are in operation) ;
- graduate study abroad opportunities, with full credit transfer (see section 1..3.11 above);
- graduate internship opportunities with full credit transfer, (being negotiated with the University of Lancasterand the University of Bath);
- masters–level courses, offered under the auspices of KIMEP’s International Summer Program, subsumable within the College’s existing Master’s degree programs; and
- specialist KIMEP certificate programs in conjunction with academics from partner institutions, under the auspices of KIMEP’s International Summer Program.
