College Research Centers
To focus the College research effort on areas of comparative advantage, the College has four research centers.
The Central Asian Studies Center(will be added soon)
This is a KIMEP-wide initiative that link its diverse pockets of research and graduate teaching interests on Central Asia – related to the social sciences, law, business, and culture and language – with the socio-political, economic, cultural and public policy imperatives of Central Asia. It is becoming a regional hub for academic and graduate research on Central Asia that generates expertise on the region and facilitates international research projects.
Central Asian Center for Media and Society
This initiative is develops, investigates and promotes new and emerging media in Central Asia, with particular attention on ways that new media are influenced by, and influence, social life. It serves as local contact and coordinator for technical improvements, such as the EU-funded CAREN network, and offers training in new media with state-of-the-art research, teaching, and collaborative facilities that support a variety of operations, such as online education and networks.
The European Studies Center
This is a KIMEP-wide initiative that link the diverse pockets of research and graduate teaching interests on Europe and the European Union (EU) – as related to the social sciences, law, business, and culture and language – with the socio-political, economic and cultural imperatives of Central Asia. Its aim is to build synergic and interdisciplinary research and graduate teaching capacity in European Studies with a Eurasian perspective, to help to strengthen bilateral relationships between Europe and Central Asia through innovative research, graduate and public educational programs.
The Socio-Legal Justice Center
This is the most recent research center established to provide a focal point for the diverse pockets of research and graduate teaching interests on social justice, social policy and social law, and the governance, administration and management of social policy. Its aim is to build interdisciplinary research, graduate teaching and post-experience training capacity in these fields. Its mission is to build interdisciplinary research, graduate teaching and post-experience training capacity on social justice, social policy and social law, and on the governance, administration and management of social policy, in order to advance the development of civil society and to promote socio-legal justice outcomes.
