On 2 and 3 October, KIMEP University hosted the first annual Kazakhstan-Korea Business Forum, featuring distinguished guests from leading Korean companies and universities. Topics for seminars included business innovation and economic develop, illustrated by the management methods and best practices of successful Korean companies, with a particular focus on applicability to the economy of Kazakhstan. In addition to KIMEP University’s role as host, the Forum was sponazsored by KMAC, a leading management consulting company, and by Next and Partners, a creative consulting firm.
The first presentation, delivered by Dr. Nei Hei Park of Sookmyung Women’s University, addressed the key factors of success in Korean management. The second examined five different management methods that explain the success of Samsung, Homeplus and Tesco, and was conducted by Dr. Chul-Gyu (Simon) Jee, President of Next and Partners. The final presentation, by Dr. Jin Park of the Korea Development Institute’s School of Public Policy and Management, provided deep insights into the secrets of the economic boom in Korea, including the role of government support. It also examined how these methods could be implemented in Kazakhstan.
The final event of the Forum was a roundtable discussion entitled “Economic Development and Business Innovation: Applications for Kazakhstan”, involving Dr. Nei Hei Park, Dr. Jin Park, Dr. Sungtae Kim of Sogang University and Dr. Wooyoung Lee of Gachon University.
In addition to providing insights into Korean business management and development and an understanding of they could be applied to Kazakhstan, the Forum also provided a valuable networking opportunity.
The Forum also served as the setting for the signing of a trilateral Memorandum of Understanding among KIMEP University, KMAC and Next and Partners, which will provide for further and deeper cooperation in the future.
