Open House Day 4.02.2012
On February 4th for the second time this academic year KIMEP has opened its doors for potential applicants. More than 600 high school students and graduates from various institutions of higher education, as well as about 100 parents have visited KIMEP.

Valentine’s Day, anticipated by all students, became the theme for February’s Open House Day.

During the Open House Day potential KIMEP students received all information required for successful enrollment to KIMEP, and also had an opportunity to do trial testing.

Guests learned about students’ international exchange programs, financial aid from KIMEP and other sponsors, upcoming KIMEP Olympiad and, of course, they received exhausting information on Institute’s programs.

Besides that, high school students were able to attend lectures of KIMEP professors who were talking about classes they teach in an entertaining manner. For example, Dr. Hoskins have prepared a very entertaining game on investments.

Potential students participated in all sessions with great interest, asking Institute’s students and employees various questions.

Besides that, many used the opportunity to declare their love for KIMEP by painting their faces and hands.

Many thanks to “Karandash” student organization for their creativity.

KIMEP New Academic Building has been packed with high school students and their parents. Guests asked numerous questions keeping KIMEP representatives rather busy.

Dr. Terence Blackburn, Vice-President of Academic Affairs of KIMEP, is always glad to talk to potential students: “Events like that are a great opportunity to introduce our Institute to future students. I am very glad that many of them have visited us today”.

Professors were happy with such big number of guests, and tried to attend to each one of them.

Alessandro Frigerio, Chair of International Relations Department at the College of Social Sciences: “Open House Day is a wonderful event. Potential students are very interested in KIMEP and are dreaming of becoming a part of it. I hope their dreams will come true”.

Kristina Ogai, secondary school No. 16: “I am in the state of emotion (in a good sense of that word) from today’s event. I dream of working for Big 4 and that is why I am choosing KIMEP!”

While potential students were getting to know each other and faculty, parents were engaged in a special session since most of the time they are concerned with other issues.

Leila Inkarbekova, mother of a potential student: “I think that North-American educational system allows students to be equal with their instructors because collegiate attitude allows students to feel worthy. I send my child to KIMEP because it grants an opportunity to realize one’s potential”.

Nargis and Zhamilya, Kazakh-Turkish Lyceum of Almaty: “KIMEP is an opportunity to combine useful with pleasant by studying under a western educational system, participating in various student organizations and gaining experience”.

In spite of their love for games and entertainment, guests remembered what they came for and tried to get as much information about their potential studies at KIMEP as possible. Selection of an institution of higher education is a very serious decision.

Roxana and Balzhan, Kazakh-Turkish Lyceum in Almaty: “KIMEP is the best educational institution in Kazakhstan. Having entered KIMEP, we won’t have to worry about our future”.

At the end of the event groups of guests went on a tour around KIMEP campus. In spite of February frost, high school students followed KIMEP students serving as tour guides around the campus.

Thanks to all who came and to all who made this event possible. Next Open House Day is schedule for April 14th. We are inviting potential students and their parents to participate. We promise it to be fun and informative!
