Application steps

Once you have chosen a program, applying to KIMEP and being registered to the courses from your program is a five-step process:

Step 1 | Prepare the application documents
Step 2 | Submit the application package
Step 3 | Take the entrance exams
Step 4 | Find out the admission decision
Step 5 | Register for courses

Step 1 – Prepare the application documents

Documents required for application to Graduate programs:
If you completed your high school or undergraduate studies in a country outside the CIS, all documents not in English should be translated into English and notarized.
1.    A completed Graduate Application Form. Please note: if you are applying to the
•    Master of International Law (LLM) please download and complete a different form here;
2.    Four recent passport-sized photos (3×4) – color or black-and-white;
3.    A copy of your passport or national ID card;
4.    A notarized copy of your diploma(s), or an official letter from your university certifying that you are a graduating/final year student;
5.    Notarized copies of all your transcripts for graduating/final year students certified by your university;
6.    A resume in English, covering academic achievements and work experience;
7.    Any certificates or awards in the field of study that is being applied for, and any other certificates or awards (in English language, in sport, etc);
8.    Two letters of recommendation from your university or work (not required for MBA program);
9.  An essay, as follows:
•    For applicants to the MPA program: “Why did I choose the MPA program at KIMEP? What are my goals and how will the MPA program help me to achieve them?” (2-3 pages);
•    For applicants to the MIR program: the theme should be devoted to their interest in a KIMEP education;
•    For applicants to the MAIJ program: it is preferable but not obligatory to submit three pieces of work: a published article and audio and video materials;
•    For applicants to the MA in TESOL program: a free biographical essay: “Why did I choose the MA in TESOL program? My goals and how the MA in TESOL program will help me to achieve them.” (2-3 pages);
•    No essay is required for applicants to the MAE and MBA programs.
10.    Any other documents you consider to be of relevance to your application may be submitted to the Admission Office at your discretion.

Step 2 – Submit the application package

Once you have your documents prepared, send them to us by one of the following methods:

KIMEP entrance examinations in Almaty city, Kazakhstan regions and Central-Asian countries are free of charge.

Step 3 – Take the entrance exams

Check your application status online or with your admission officer. Once your application has been received, you will be invited to sit the KIMEP entrance exams, held in Almaty and in other major cities around Kazakhstan.

All applicants will need to take: KEET- KIMEP English Entrance Exam or submit valid official TOEFL / IELTS scores.

MBA, MAE programs applicants additionally need to take KGET – KIMEP Graduate Entrance Test

MAIJ program applicants additionally need to write an Essay

MPA, LLM, MIR program applicants additionally need to pass an Interview, as part of the selection process.

Step 4 – Find out the admission decision

The results of the entrance exams as well as the admission decision are available online and from your admission officer. The criteria for admission to both undergraduate and graduate programs include academic standing, knowledge of English, and potential to succeed within a specific program. Admission decisions are taken at the program / college level and then at the KIMEP level.

Step 5 – Register for courses

All students who are accepted to KIMEP will be sent (or can collect from KIMEP) a package for newly-admitted students that includes information on orientation, advising, schedule and payment, registration for pre-degree in Summer and degree courses in Fall, the medical check, and major policies and procedures.

Before registering for courses, you will need to submit the originals of your academic documents and a medical certificate. After all your original documents have been delivered to KIMEP and you have paid your tuition, you will be able to register for courses online.
